The first official mission of the Husky Street Team was set for Aug. 31, 2013. We were each to distribute commemorative coins to the first 2,000 loyal Husky Fans before the Huskies whooped on Boise with a 38-6 win in the first game back at Husky Stadium. With the help from Game Day Interns, we were able to cover all entrances and very successfully passed out these Retake Montlake coins.
As our first call to duty, I was honored to help hand these out to my fellow Husky Fans, because I would have been on the other side of those gates standing along side them in a heartbeat.
There were definite fears of getting trampled, or not being able to hold down the fort, but this was a silly fear because there was so much happiness and excitement encompassing the stadium. In fact we even made new friends!
Can we go relive that day please?
